Unum Accident Insurance can help your team members get back on their feet after an accidental injury. Our plans provide a lump-sum benefit to help them with expenses not covered by their medical insurance, such as co-pays, transportation costs and out-of-pocket fees.
The amount of benefits your employees receive depends on the type of injury and the required treatment as determined by a physician. There is no lifetime annual maximum payout.
The payments are made directly to your employees, so they can use the money however they need, whether it’s to cover co-pays, deductibles or personal bills and expenses that their medical plan doesn’t cover.
Eligible employees are guaranteed to receive the base plan coverage without answering any health questions or undergoing a physical exam. However, health questions may be required for certain employer-elected options.
It depends on your business. In general, small businesses prefer individual policies because they are owned by the employee and have long-term guarantees. Group policies are generally better for larger companies that have offices in several states because they provide more flexibility.
