HOW TO OPT-IN

To opt in to receive text messages from Unum and its subsidiaries, affiliates, and service providers (collectively “Unum”), turn on the texting function in your Unum portal account by clicking “Yes” under Text Notifications or contact our call center at 866-679-3054.

HOW TO OPT-OUT

To opt out of receiving text messages from Unum, simply reply STOP or turn off texting in your portal account. After opting out, you may receive one final message confirming your choice. You may re-enroll by following the standard opt in process above.

CONDITIONS OF PROGRAM ENROLLMENT

By enrolling in Unum Text Notifications, you give your consent to Unum to use an automatic dialing system to deliver text messages to the provided mobile number. This consent is not a condition of purchase or service. Once enrolled, you may receive confirmation of your enrollment via message.

You represent that you are the owner of the mobile device for which you have authorized enrollment in this program and that you are the sole person responsible for messages sent from and received by the device. You agree to promptly notify Unum if your mobile phone number changes.

After enrolling in Text Notifications, Unum may send you messages related to your policies, claims, leave, and other products or services you receive from Unum.

Message frequency may vary. You agree that Unum will not be liable for any delays or failures in your receipt of any text messages, as delivery can be unpredictable based on transmission from your network operator and processing by your mobile device. Text message services are provided on an as is, as available basis.

RIGHT TO TERMINATE

Unum reserves the right to terminate Text Notifications at any time without notice. For complete and accurate information, access your Unum portal account or contact your designated Unum representative.

CHARGES

Message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply and you are liable for those charges.

CONFIDENTIAL AND SENSITIVE INFORMATION

You acknowledge that text messages are not end-to-end encrypted and could be intercepted by third parties, additionally you acknowledge that fraudsters sometimes attempt to impersonate companies like Unum. As such, you agree that you will not text Unum any confidential or sensitive information. For your safety and that of our systems, Unum will not ask for confidential or sensitive information via text. If you receive a suspicious text claiming to be from Unum, please contact your Unum representative. By continuing to use Unum Text Notifications, you agree Unum will not be liable for any unauthorized access or interception of text messages with Unum.

UNSOLICITED MESSAGES

Unsolicited messages to Unum through Text Notifications are not monitored. For help, please visit https://www.unum.com/ or contact your designated Unum representative.
