Unum’s new group hospital indemnity plan may help employees avoid financial setbacks due to a hospital stay. And our brand-new whole life product provides more than just a death benefit — to help employees plan for post-retirement protection.
Since 2002, Unum has teamed up with the Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC)*. The DMEC Virtual Education Forum (VEF), sponsored by Unum, is a series of web-based sessions where employers and service providers share their knowledge and first-hand experience in developing and running a successful disability and absence management program. The VEF series is positioned for prospects, customers, brokers and consultants in the larger employer market (2000+). Virtual Education Forum sessions are held on Tuesdays at 12:00pm EST / 9:00am PST. There is no charge for these sessions for DMEC members or Unum guests (employers, benefit consultants). If you are not a member of DMEC, you and your clients may register as a “non-member” and enter the appropriate Unum promotional code to have the regular $8.95 fee waived. Please note: Due to a system upgrade, the code changes each session (UnumMonthYr, e.g., UnumSeptember13, UnumOctober13).
For more information on a specific VEF date/event and to register for a session, please visit the DMEC Virtual Education website. For questions on registration, please contact DMEC technical assistance at webmaster@dmec.org or call 800.789.3632, ext 101.

Unum’s Essential VB and Essential VB Plus utilize a popular combination of financial protection choices and easy enrollment — which makes it easier for you to generate more income. Unum provides all the information and support you need to position, sell and enroll these solutions. They provide important financial protection, based on your customers' size. Here’s the breakdown:
Both solutions offer individual accident insurance*, group critical illness, individual short term disability and interest-sensitive whole life. Since August 17, 2012, Unum Essential VB Plus has also included group accident and enhanced group critical illness (eGCI) coverage. Like traditional group benefits, our method uses group meetings and a personalized, pre-filled enrollment form — or online options** — that allow employees to "self enroll."

This Unum-commissioned report, Economic Analysis of Insurance Products in Workplace Benefits Programs in the U.S., quantifies the value of financial protection benefits for working families. It also examines the savings these benefits can provide, by relieving the burden on public assistance programs.
