Reach out to Hispanic employees during Life Insurance Awareness Month

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month — and it’s also Hispanic Heritage Month. So it’s a great time to educate Hispanic employees on how life insurance can easily, affordably help them and their loved ones prepare for the future.

It’s no secret that many American families are underinsured. However, life insurance ownership is lowest among Hispanics: Though 70% of Hispanics say they need life insurance, only 54% actually own this coverage.1

Some common objections:2

  • Hispanics (like many Americans) perceive life insurance as being too expensive
  • They aren't sure what kind — or how much — to purchase
  • They haven't been approached by anyone.

But Hispanic employees tend to put the well-being of thier families first — and they perceive life insurance as an important investment. In fact, many are worried about leaving their dependents to face final expenses if they die unexpectedly.
So what's the solution?

Combine simple insurance plans with effective education

Simplicity is the key to reaching this large (and quickly growing) audience. Hispanics cited understanding what they're buying as the most important factor related to purchasing life insurance.3

That's why Life Insurance Awareness Month provides the perfect jumping-off point to start educating a Hispanic workforce about how easy, and affordable, this coverage can be.

Unum is here to help — by offering life insurance plans that combine the most popular features with Spanish-language education and enrollment support.

Our new whole life insurance offers financial protection in the event of an unexpected death, plus valuable resources while the policyholder is alive. Whole life (also called permanent life) can help employees add more coverage now — and it provides a benefit that lasts through retirement. This policy can build cash value at a guaranteed rate, which may be especially attractive to families who don’t have much in savings. And for younger employees, whole life is a great way to start investing in their financial future.

Unum's new whole life insurance is available to enroll now. So talk to your Unum representative — and leverage Life Insurance Awareness Month to keep Hispanic employees financially secure, now and in the future.
