Understanding the Impact of COVID-19 on NY PFL & FMLA

Given the current state of the country and the focus on managing the workplace while dealing with the coronavirus outbreak, we hosted a webinar to focus on the impact of COVID-19 on NY PFL as well as other legislation and issues that have come into focus with COVID-19.

Benefit phases

Paid family leave will start January 2018, phasing in over four years:

  • 2018 - 8 weeks
  • 2019 - 10 weeks
  • 2020 - 10 weeks
  • 2021 - 12 weeks

Benefits provide the employee a percentage of their average weekly wage, which will also be phased in over four years:

  • 2018 - 50%
  • 2019 - 55%
  • 2020 - 60%
  • 2021 - 67%
