Unum Group Again Earns Top Honors for Civic Work
The Civic 50 is a national standard for corporate citizenship and showcases how leading companies are moving social impact, civic engagement and community to the core of their business.
Unum has a 175-year history of making a difference in the communities where our employees live and work,” said Rick McKenney, president and chief executive officer of Unum Group. "This recognition is a testament to the caring spirit of our employees and their steadfast efforts to effect positive change in our communities."
The Civic 50 honorees are companies with annual U.S. revenues of at least $1 billion and are selected based on four dimensions of their corporate citizenship and social impact programs during the prior year:
- Investment of resources
- Integration across business functions
- Institutionalization through policies and systems
- Impact measurement
- $12 million in corporate and employee contributions to charitable causes
- 45,000 employee volunteer hours
- $1 million in social justice grants to organizations working to end racism, discrimination and bias since 2020
- 10 years of connecting leaders in education with leaders in business through the Education Leaders Experience program
