Unum Receives Best Employer Award for Excellence in Health & Well-being

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 19, 2022) – Unum (NYSE: UNM) is one of 44 large employers honored with the prestigious Business Group on Health Best Employers: Excellence in Health & Well-being Award, for advancing employee well-being through comprehensive and innovative benefits and initiatives.

Unum was recognized for scoring above average in the holistic-well-being, and equitable benefits categories.

The theme for the 17th annual awards, announced today in Nashville, is “Collaborating on the Future of Health and Well-being.”

“A comprehensive wellbeing strategy is important to protect the health and wellness of our employees,” said Laurie Mitchell, assistant vice president of health and well-being at Unum. “It’s an honor for Unum to be recognized as a leader in promoting healthy initiatives and innovative benefits.

The Business Group reimagined the award criteria for 2022 to reflect a global perspective and integrate and honor the importance of health equity and the employee experience. The criteria continue to focus on:

  • Leadership, culture and wellbeing strategy
  • Holistic well-being approaches
  • Engagement and the employee experience
  • Equitable benefits and social determinants of health
  • Metrics and evaluation

The 2022 winners represent a wide array of industries, including banking/financial services, entertainment and hospitality, health care, manufacturing, professional services, technology and utilities. All of the winners have a strategy with measurable objectives and incorporate principles of diversity, equity and inclusion into their health and well-being efforts.
