Unum recognized for innovation in disability management processes
Unum (NYSE: UNM), an industry leader in financial protection benefits, announced today it is the recipient of the 2018 Xplor Application of the Year Award in partnership with Crawford Technologies for its innovation in disability management processes.
The Xplor award, presented annually by the worldwide electronic documents association Xplor International, recognizes a company demonstrating outstanding achievement in the imaginative application of current technology or unique implementation of existing document and communication systems.
“We’re always looking for ways to simplify and expedite our internal processes to create a more seamless customer experience for the 36 million people we protect,” said Wade Redmond, director of Process Architecture at Unum, who worked closely with Crawford on the winning project.
Unum and Crawford Technologies were selected for their innovative approach in consolidating data centers, automating over 2000 applications, and creating a process for ensuring efficiency and document integrity.
“These processes created a revolutionary way to automate the conversion process of Unum’s claims documents, which will enable us to connect with the customer more quickly and securely,” Philip Westhoff, assistant vice president of Procure to Pay Operations at Unum, said.
The award will be presented at Xploration 18, held April 17-19 in Orlando, Florida.
