UnumProvident Corporation to Release Fourth Quarter 2006 Results and Host Conference Call

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Dec. 19, 2006) — UnumProvident Corporation (NYSE: UNM) has scheduled the release of its fourth quarter 2006 results for Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at approximately 4 p.m. (Eastern). UnumProvident Corporation senior management will host a conference call on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at 9 a.m. (Eastern) to discuss the results of operations for the fourth quarter and may include forward-looking information, such as guidance on future results or trends in operations, as well as other material information. The dial-in information will be provided early January 2007.

Additionally, senior management of UnumProvident will be presenting at the Citigroup Financial Services Conference on Jan. 31. Details of this presentation will be provided in early January.
