Chattanooga, Tenn., February 28, 2006 — The Board of Directors of UnumProvident (NYSE: UNM) has set May 17, 2006, as the date for the company’s annual meeting of stockholders. The meeting will be held at 2211 Congress Street, Portland, Maine, at 10 a.m. (Eastern). The directors also have set March 20, 2006, as the record date for determination of stockholders entitled to vote at the annual meeting.
