Community commitment

Focus on education

Joining Unum Ireland as a recent graduate, I was given the opportunity to develop as a Data Analyst in a cutting-edge, challenging and supportive environment, within a very talented team.

Unum enjoys a strong partnership with the local Institute of Technology in Carlow and helped create a software development centre for the campus in 2009, and has hired 11 graduates so far. Unum has hosted 2 internship programmes to date, which included 3-month assignments working in Unum’s U.S. offices.

Our employees also collaborate with local secondary schools to promote career opportunities in IT by participating in career nights and the National ICT Champions Programme. These efforts illustrate Unum's commitment to our local community while helping to build Ireland's future technology workforce.

Volunteer activities

Unum plays an active role in the community’s charitable organisations. Employees volunteer their time and skills to many different groups, including Chic and Cheerful, Cairdeas Centre, St. Catherine's Community Centre, Meals on Wheels, the Carlow Volunteer Centre, Carlow Regional Youth Services and many more.

Unum employees engage in fundraising for both local and national charities, including the Delta Centre, Saplings, Beam and the Jack and Jill Foundation.
