A revitalized downtown offers residents and visitors a taste of city life with outdoor activities just a short drive away. Chattanooga was the original home of Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company, a predecessor of Unum. The company was founded in 1887. Chattanooga is Unum's headquarters site.
