Chattanooga

Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Chattanooga is a growing community combining the best of big city conveniences with a small town feel. More than 2,500 Unum employees and their families call the Chattanooga area home.

Downtown reborn

A revitalized downtown offers residents and visitors a taste of city life with outdoor activities just a short drive away. Downtown's renaissance in the past decade has brought scores of new restaurants, coffee hours and entertainment venues, along with city parks and playgrounds. Urban housing is also in abundance, with new condo developments and restored homes filling the tree-lined streets of the city. Unum's campus is located downtown.

Chattanooga roots

Chattanooga was the original home of Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company, a predecessor of Unum. The company was founded in 1887. Chattanooga is Unum's headquarters site.

From Forbes and National Geographic to USA Today and Outside magazine, people across the country are giving Chattanooga some great press. The city has been cited nationally for its livability, excellence in housing, business climate, environmental awareness and outdoor activities. And most recently, it made the New York Times' travel list as a place to visit in 2012, one of only four American cities to make the list. If that weren't enough, Chattanooga is also centrally located within 2-3 hour drives from Nashville and Knoxville in Tennessee, Birmingham and Huntsville in Alabama, and Atlanta.
