Forbes’ Most Reputable Companies
For the fourth consecutive year, Forbes has recognized Unum as one of America’s Most Reputable Companies. The company was named 72 on the list, rising 30 spots from last year.

Reputation Institute compiles the list of America’s Most Reputable Companies in partnership with Forbes by surveying consumers on their perceptions of 150 large, publicly traded U.S. companies.

Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles
For nine years, Unum has been honored as one of the top employers promoting healthy work environments and encouraging workers to live healthier lifestyles. The company, including all U.S. operations and Colonial Life, was among 63 in the U.S. that received the 2014 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® award by the National Business Group on Health.

Unum received a Gold award for developing comprehensive programs that support employees’ healthy lifestyle goals, improving their productivity and quality of life. The company offers employees and their families a broad range of resources to promote healthy behaviors, including fitness facilities and health resource centers in Chattanooga, Columbia, Portland and Worcester.

Corporate Social Responsibility Leadership
Unum was among 23 financial services companies to win a Corporate Social Responsibility Leadership award from Financial Services Roundtable, the leading advocacy organization for America’s financial services industry.

The award was presented to Unum in recognition of the company’s dedication to improving the communities in which it resides and efforts on sharing financial literacy education, including support for:

  • The Maine Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy and the work it does to educate and prepare our nation's youth for lifelong financial success
  • Junior Achievement's “JA in a Day” program for elementary through high school students across several home office sites
  • Unum Tech Nights and the work employees have invested to develop a program designed to educate students on the variety of careers in the IT field
