The price of reform:
Funding America’s health care reform package

Reason for update: Automatic enrollment delayed until 2014

The mandate that requires companies with more than 200 full-time employees to automatically enroll employees in their medical plans has been delayed until 2014. In 2011, the IRS had initially announced that this mandate would be delayed until the government finalized regulations for auto-enrollment or issued further guidance.

In February 2012 the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services and the Internal Revenue Service issued a statement that this requirement will not go into effect until regulations are issued which won’t be ready until 2014.
