Getting started:

There are a few steps required to begin any type of claim, though each product is different.

  • You can file most types of claims and monitor your claim online through this website. Our dedicated claims site is secure and available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • You can get copies of paper claim forms that can be mailed or faxed to Unum.

Responding to your claim:

How soon will you hear from us? Each product is different, but we always strive to serve you quickly and fairly.

Disability: Once a disability benefits specialist is assigned to handle your needs, you will hear from them within five days.

Long term care: Once we receive a claim, we will send written acknowledgement within three business days.

Accident: For most voluntary benefits claims, decisions can be made within five business days of receipt of the completed claim.

Life: Most claims are paid within five business days of our receiving appropriate documentation.

Cancer, critical illness or MedSupport: Once we receive your completed claim form, a voluntary benefit specialist will personally handle your needs.

Staying informed about your claim.

Our secure website should be the first place you visit to find out information about your claim. Review status information, discover information that may be needed for us to make a decision, keep track of payments that have been made.
