Critical illness insurance

Heart problems run in Dan's family. But he has two boisterous boys to keep up with. He'd rather worry about their antics making his heart skip a beat, not the high cost that may accompany a heart attack.

But life can change in a heartbeat. Our critical illness benefit offers financial help in the event of a serious illness, such as heart attack or stroke. The plan may also include coverage for cancer and family members.

Critical illness insurance is a limited policy.

The policies or their provisions may vary or be unavailable in some states. The policies have exclusions and limitations which may affect any benefits payable. See the actual policy or your Unum representative for specific provisions and details of availability.

In a Harvard study, people who filed for bankruptcy due to medical expenses reported average out-of-pocket healthcare costs of $13,460, even though they had health insurance at the onset of their illness.[1]
